Healthwatch
Healthwatch is the independent consumer champion for people who use health and social care services.
Each Local Authority are of England has their own statutory Healthwatch service and Hull CVS are the providers of Healthwatch Kingston Upon Hull.
What is Healthwatch?
The role of Healthwatch is to find out people’s experiences of health and social care services with a view to making sure they are meeting people’s needs, and to suggest or call for improvements where needed based on people’s experiences.
Healthwatch is there to listen to local communities and provide them with the information and advice they need to get the support they deserve and to demonstrate how by speaking up, their experiences can make a difference.
Healthwatch have the legal power to make sure that people’s voices are heard by the government and those running services. As well as seeking the public’s views ourselves, we also encourage services to involve people in decisions that affect them. Our sole purpose is to help make care better for people.
- Help people find out about local care.
- Listen to what people think of services.
- Help improve the quality of services by letting those running services and the government know what people want from care.
Working With Local Communities
Our Impact
Healthwatch delivers wide-ranging and focused activities to engage directly with our local communities. It is important to us that we listen to their needs and capture their experiences so we are able to work with those who commission and provide local services to enact the changes needed the most.

Healthwatch volunteers help contribute to the vital work of Healthwatch by supporting their local communities and the services they use. They are local people who have an interest in health and social care, and who want to ensure that the services available are the best they can be.
Whilst some Healthwatch volunteers have previous experience working in the health and social care sector, many join Healthwatch because they want to find out more about how the system works, or because they have had personal experiences using local health and care services.
