Our mission is to equip charities and community groups with practical skills, guidance and resources; connect them through networks, partnerships and volunteering; and champion their voice to influence change and secure a stronger future.
Our vision is to build strong sustainable communities across Hull and the Humber by empowering individuals, volunteers, communities and the wider voluntary sector with the skills and support to change lives.
In summary we:
- Provide practical advice and guidance on all aspects of starting and running charity or voluntary organisation, from governance, funding, and volunteering, through to payroll, HR and building management.
- Provide capacity building to groups, charities and causes to strengthen their delivery, in the form of grants, training and partnership facilitation.
- Support in the design and delivery of new local support groups and programmes.
- Lead on volunteering development in Hull, ensuring that wide awareness of volunteer opportunities and charities are following best practice.
- Bring together organisations to share information and good practice enabling the sector to work more effectively.
- Provide a mechanism for conversations with the charitable sector on city-wide priorities and strategies.
- Champion the value of the charitable sector and channel funding and resources in to the sector to strengthen services offered to communities.
- Providing intensive incubatory space to causes as they go through their initial development stage.
- Deliver a range of projects that empower local residents and communities to live more independent lives.
